GRII Kemayoran, 7 May 2017: The Testimony of Dr. Christopher Yuan

A piece of reflection on The Testimony of Dr. Christopher Yuan (a gay son’s journey to God, a broken mother’s search for hope) & a Response of Word of God from Ps. Dr. Stephen Tong
  1. God’s Word is sharper than a double-edged sword, exposing our deepest and most hidden sins, but there is no sin that is big enough which God cannot forgive
  2. The epitome of God’s love is manifested in the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ
  3. We are sinners, undeserving of His mercy, yet He still loves us unconditionally
  4. Unconditional love is not equal to unconditional approval. Though God loves us, He desires us to be holy just as He is holy
  5. Our behavior and desire should not define us because our identity is the children of God – bought with the precious blood of Christ
  6. We do not pray to force God follow our desires; we pray to align our will to His. Prayer does not change God; it changes us
  7. God answers prayer in His own sovereign way
  8. Keep perserving in (fasting and) prayer for it is a battle to win souls
  9. Don’t be a good Christian who thinks that going to the church every Sunday is enough; be a great Christian who shows God’s love and glory through our everyday’s lives
  10. Parents, don’t teach your children to finish their homework and excel in academic and career more than teaching them to love and follow Christ
  11. Parents, don’t ask, “when is it too early to teach sexuality to my children?” Rather, ask, “when is it too late to teach sexuality to my children?” If you don’t teach your children biblical sexuality, the world will teach them unbiblical sexuality
  12. God has given you talents. Satan can’t take away your talents, but he can distort your perspective towards them
  13. God never promise us that we will live tomorrow. Have a sense of urgency in serving the Lord because our days are numbered. Serve as if it is your first time – asking God for strength – and your last time – with all your heart, mind and strength
  14. The invisible is much more important than the visible in this world
  15. The rulers of this world use power and wealth to build their kingdom, but God uses the broken, lowly, repented heart of men to build His kingdom
“The kingdom of this world is become the kingdom of our Lord and of His Christ, and He shall reign forever and ever. Hallelujah. Amen.” – G.F. Handel
